Anders Folk is a lifelong Minnesotan, a career federal prosecutor, and a former senior official in the U.S. Department of Justice under President Joe Biden. He served as Acting United States Attorney for the District of Minnesota, where he led some of the most consequential prosecutions in recent state history — including the successful federal case against the Derek Chauvin co-defendants following the murder of George Floyd.
A professional prosecutor with more than two decades of legal and public service experience, Anders has handled complex federal cases involving violent crime, domestic terrorism, public corruption, large-scale fraud, and civil rights violations. He began his legal career in the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office and went on to serve as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Minnesota.
At the national level, Anders served in a senior leadership role as Senior Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General of the United States, where he worked closely with DOJ leadership — including Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco and Attorney General Merrick Garland — on federal criminal policy, law enforcement strategy, and justice reform initiatives.
Anders also brings the perspective of military service. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps while in law school and served as a Judge Advocate, prosecuting and defending service members under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
A graduate of Hopkins High School and the University of Minnesota (B.A. and J.D.), Anders is deeply committed to his home state and to public service. He currently serves on the boards of the YMCA of the North and the University of Minnesota Foundation, and is Board Chair of the Veterans Defense Project, an organization focused on improving legal outcomes for veterans in the justice system. He has previously served on the boards of the Minnesota Orchestra and the International Education Center, which provides support to first-generation immigrant students.
Anders lives in the Twin Cities with his wife, Angela, and their four children: Morgan, Harlan, Alexandra (“Alex”), and Madeline (“Maddie”).
